The northbound lanes of Interstate 275 are shut down near the downtown St. Petersburg exits after an alleged drunk driver veered into oncoming traffic.

Florida Highway Patrol said four vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred Thursday afternoon. Troopers said 49-year-old Kim Gordon was traveling southbound on I-275, while the three other vehicles involved in the crash were traveling northbound.

Around 12:11 p.m., Gordon lost control of her car, traveled southeast across the median, and into the northbound lanes of I-275, according to an FHP media release. Her 2014 Toyota Camry crashed into a 2003 Dodge Durango, driven by a 48-year-old man from St. Petersburg. He was transported to Bayfront Health with serious injuries.

Gordon's vehicle also collided with a 2001 Honda Accord, driven by a 26-year-old woman from St. Petersburg and was carrying a 32-year-old female passenger. Both were transported to St. Anthony's Hospital with serious injuries.

The fourth vehicle, a 2013 Ford Focus, also was struck by Gordon's vehicle, troopers said. The 50-year-old female driver was transported to Bayfront Health with minor injuries.

Police closed those lanes between Interstate 175 and Interstate 375 for at least two hours. Troopers said the crash was alcohol-related. The victims who had serious injuries were not wearing seatbelts, according to FHP.
