Florida mom watches on phone as son hides from burglars

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (FOX 13) - A south Florida mom watched on her phone as two men ransacked her home while her son hid in the closet, police say.

According to Pembroke Pines police, the two black males parked in front of the victim’s home in the Cinnamon Place neighborhood. They knocked on the front door and the victim’s 13-year-old son looked into the peephole, but didn’t recognize either of them. 

He was home alone at the time and didn’t answer the door, police say. The suspects walked to the back of the home and entered by smashing a sliding glass door. 

The boy ran upstairs and locked himself inside the master bedroom’s closet and called police. His mother remotely saw the suspects on her phone through internal and external home cameras. She thought the suspect could be friends of her son and attempted to call him on his cell phone.

However, the boy was on the phone with dispatch at the time.

Both suspects burglarized the home and even entered the master bedroom where the boy was hiding in the closet, police say. The suspect fled before officers arrived, and the boy was found unharmed.

Police are still searching for the suspects. Both are described as black males, between 5’4 to 5’7 feet tall, between the ages 16 and 19, with thin builds, short dreads, and dark complexions. They were seen wearing black shirts, black shorts and long white socks.
