Geologists: Hole under Holiday home is a sinkhole
HOLIDAY (FOX 13) - Geologists said Tuesday that a hole that opened up under a home in Holiday is indeed a sinkhole.
The hole opened up Monday beneath a home off Genesis Avenue, prompting residents and neighbors to evacuate.
The American Red Cross has assisted families impacted by the sinkhole, which measures 30 feet wide and 10 to 15 feet deep.
Pasco County Emergency Management officials said they would provide recommendations to condemn or add "unsafe" entry signs on Tuesday.
A utility worker shut off water and removed the home's meter as a safeguard for neighboring homes, should the sinkhole get any bigger.
Relatives removed the homeowner's property from the impacted home on Monday. They said the homeowner, a woman in her 70's, does not have insurance for repairs.
