Groundbreaking for St. Pete tower

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - Changes are coming to the St. Pete skyline.  A groundbreaking ceremony took place for One St. Petersburg Friday.

The 41-story tower, located at 100 1st Ave N, is scheduled to open in 2017.  It will become the largest building in Downtown St. Petersburg, including more than 250 condo homes, a Hyatt hotel, and retail space.

The project is expected to generate at least 350 construction jobs and 150 full time jobs once completed. Those involved anticipate an economic return of more than $5.5 million in city property tax revenue each year.
