A Tampa man accused of firing a shot inside the Citrus Park Town Center was arrested Sunday night.

Andrew Nicholas Cohen, 22, is charged with armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm for an incident that happened November 23.

Hillsborough County deputies said Cohen went to the Meher Jewelers kiosk inside the mall claiming to buy a necklace for his mother. When a sales associate let Cohen try on one of the necklaces valued at several thousand dollars, deputies said Cohen ran off with it.

Deputies said Cohen fired a shot at the sales associate as he was being chased, but missed. They said he fired a second shot once the two were outside in the mall parking lot, but again, missed. The sales associate eventually caught up with Cohen and was able to get the necklace back. No one was hurt.

Deputies said Cohen took off in a white, 4-door Hyundai Elantra.

Sunday night, deputies arrested Cohen during a traffic stop. They found him in possession of the clothing he was believed to be wearing during the attempted robbery, as well as the same type of ammunition recovered at the scene.

Cohen was booked into the Hillsborough County Orient Road Jail.
