Injured coyote found in South Florida shopping district
COCONUT GROVE, Fla. (FOX 13) - It must have been a wild encounter.
Originally, officials responded to reports of an injured dog in a Coconut Gove shopping district, but were surprised to find the dog was actually a coyote.
The animal was found on the 3100 block of Commodore Plaza on Saturday, according to WSVN. The South Florida Wildlife Center offered to help the coyote, and it will receive a full checkup in the coming DAYS. They said coyotes can have rabies, and animal services officials advise people and pet owners to use caution when approaching wildlife.
Once the coyote completes its medical treatment, it will be transported to a rehabilitation center before being released back into the wild.
It is unknown how the coyote was injured or what the injury could have been.
