Inmate found after walking away from Bilirakis event in Pasco Co.

NEW PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) - The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says an inmate, who walked away from a political event held by Rep. Gus Bilirakis in New Port Richey, was located in Hillsborough County.

Now officials are trying to figure out who authorized the transport of several inmates from a center in Tarpon Springs to attend the veteran's event. 

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says its deputies had no involvement in the situation but were tasked with finding the inmate who walked away from the event at the Verizon Center.

Moore's previous crimes include aggravated assault, aggravated battery with a weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon. His record involves crimes committed in Pinellas County.

Moore was being held at the ACTS Center in Tarpon Springs. According to its website, the Agency for Community Treatment Services (ACTS) provides services related to "substance abuse, co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness, child protection, delinquency, criminal justice, housing, economic self-sufficiency and health and wellness." 

Deputies say a person tasked with transporting the inmates to Bilirakis' event knew all of the inmates had not come back to the transport vehicle but left with the ones who did return. That person did not report that Moore was missing until returning to Tarpon Springs, a representative from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

According to a tweet from Gus Bilirakis on June 21, the event was the 12th Annual Veterans' Resource Fair, which started at 10 a.m. and ended at noon Saturday.
