A road rage fight ended with shots fired and one man dead along State Road 54 in Land O' Lakes last night.

Pasco County deputies say the road rage incident started just after 9 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 54 and Collier, then continued for about 2 miles until the drivers made their way to the intersection of 54 and U.S. 41.

That’s where they say one driver drew his weapon and fired at least one fatal shot, killing a 38-year-old man who’s since been identified as Scott Ryan Bartolotti.

Detectives at the scene say they don’t believe the drivers knew each other, but wouldn’t get into the specifics about what, if anything, the drivers said to each other or what sparked the instance of deadly road rage.

But deputies did say this: If you feel like another driver is acting aggressively, you should call 911 before the situation gets out of hand

"The best thing to do if you're in a road rage situation, if you feel like someone is tailgating you or causing trouble, just call 911 and try to get to a safe spot,” Lt. Ruby Fields offered.

The sheriff’s office has yet to identify the man who pulled the trigger last night or say if he will be facing charges.

At this point deputies, are asking for witnesses who may’ve seen the exchange to give them a call.
