TAMPA (FOX 13) - Friday, March 4, 2016 is National Hug a G.I. Day.
It marks the 20th annual day of observation since its inaugural celebration back in 1996, according to NationalDayCalendar.com.
To celebrate, just be sure to "find a G.I. you know and give them a hug", and if they're too far away, there's always the option of sending along a virtual one via text, e-mail, phone or even snail mail.
Those who take part in the day are encouraged to use "#HugAG.I.Day" along with any posts on social media.
