For the first time in three years, McDonald's is changing their packaging.

In a news release Thursday, the company said they'll unveil new carry-out bags, fountain beverage cups and sandwich boxes in U.S. restaurants starting this month.

"The new look is simple, fresh and consistent with the company’s vision to be a modern and progressive burger company," the release explained.

In addition to the new design, McDonald's also announced an effort to focus more on its environmental impact in the coming years.

"The company has committed to sourcing 100% of all fiber-based packaging from recycled or certified sources by 2020," they said. "We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and initiatives like this are important to our customers who care about the planet."
