Mosley Hotel residents being evicted, helped by social services
ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - Social service workers are trying to prevent dozens of families from becoming homeless.
The two dozen families left living at the Mosley Motel in St. Petersburg have to be out by the end of the weekend. They've known for several weeks that the new owner decided to dump the property.
Social service teams have been working with low income families to find other housing.
John Bennett, the assistant Pinellas County Administrator, says some families will be better off because they’re being introduced to better benefit programs.
“Our goal is to make sure no one ends up homeless,” Bennett said.
Deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department posted eviction notices Thursday; all remaining residents must be out by 8 a.m. Monday.
