Pilot kisses ground after emergency landing at Florida airport
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla (WSVN) - A pilot made an emergency landing at a Florida airport, and was clearly thankful for the safe return.
On Thursday morning, the pilot and a student, who have not been identified, were navigating a small piper arrow aircraft and was reportedly having trouble with his front landing gear. He made two unsuccessful attempts at landing, circling North Perry Airport for about 45 minutes.
He finally sets down the small aircraft, and it hit the runway nose first. The two people on board bolted out of the plane, and the pilot kissed the ground.
No one was injured. The pilot was flying with student out of Wayman Aviation when the incident happened. They both made it out safely, Wayman Aviation tells WSVN. The company said both are experienced flyers.
“The student was actually already a commercial pilot training to be an instructor,” Luy said.
Wayman Aviation released a statement in response to the emergency landing.
“A senior instructor and student had an emergency landing. They did a fantastic job and followed emergency procedures. Everyone is safe and unharmed,” the company said.
