Two starving, neglected puppies wandered onto a golf course in Vero Beach earlier this week. Now, police are hoping the public can help them track down those responsible.

It was Tuesday afternoon when the 5-month-old female puppies were spotted on the Vero Beach Country Club’s golf course by two good Samaritans.  An Animal Control officer took the pups to the Humane Society, where they were treated for starvation and mange.

Photos shared by the Vero Beach Police Department showed the poor condition the of the pups, which were described as bulldog puppies by police.

Now, officers have opened an animal cruelty investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Humane Society at (772) 388-3331 ext. 128, or the Vero Beach Police Department at (772) 978-4600.

The Humane Society is also requesting donations to help provide for the medical care of both dogs. Anyone interested may call the shelter at (772) 388-3826.
