A man accused of killing two people in Polk County faced a judge on Wednesday.

Julian Bird of Lake Wales is being held without bond after facing two charges of first degree murder.

On Saturday, he was charged in the October death of a convenience store owner. Then, on Tuesday night, police charged him in the death of Jimmie Rogers of Winter Haven, who was found dead outside an apartment building in November.

Bird allegedly killed them during separate armed robberies.

"He's a bad guy," said Winter Haven Police Chief Charlie Bird [no relation]. "It's a lot of closure for the family. The family can now start moving past, even though it will never make sense to them."

Police are still looking for a second suspect in the death of the convenience store clerk, Mohammed Allam.
