Safe Exchange Zone creates safe place for trades

DADE CITY (FOX 13) - Police in Dade City created a safer way for people to make exchanges.
Whether buying a cell phone from an online seller, to transferring custody for a weekend visitation, the Safe Exchange Zone will relieve stress for people who are nervous to meet in person.
Dade City Police said the Safe Exchange Zone - located in the police department parking lot - is always open and does not require an appointment. Police officers will be on patrol 24-hours a day.
“With the enhanced lighting and external security cameras available, we are encouraging people to come to the police department to conduct their business in a safe and neutral environment if they wish", said Chief Raymond Velboom.
There have not been any robberies related to swapping items in Dade City, and police said they would like to keep it that way.
