Drivers experienced major delays on Southbound I-75 after a severe crash involving a semi truck Monday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol says it happened sometime before 7 a.m. after the State Road 52 exit when a semi truck driver changed lanes, partially entered the shoulder, then over-corrected and ended up overturned on the side of the road.

The driver was reportedly pinned in the cab until emergency crews arrived.

All lanes were temporarily closed while BayFlight  arrived to air-lift the driver to the hospital, but they have since reopened.

Delays were still stretching between three and four miles long an hour after the crash. Drivers were encouraged to avoid the area.
