St. Pete police release composite sketch of cop impersonator

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - An unknown man, who claimed to be a police officer, is now being called a suspect, according to St. Petersburg police.
On Thursday, police said the alleged cop impersonator pulled over a woman around 10:30 p.m. in an area north of 5th Avenue South and west of 34th Street. The victim told police, according to a media release, the suspect was driving a white sedan, similar to an unmarked cruiser. He asked to see the driver’s license and later drove off.
The suspect was described as a muscular man, with dark skin and was more than 6 feet tall.
The St. Petersburg Police Department released a composite sketch in hopes of identifying the man. Anyone with information is asked to contact the agency at 727-893-7780, or text SPPD plus your tip to TIP411.
Police advised if any person feels unsure of the identity of a police officer, they can call 911, provide their location, and the operator can verify if it is a legitimate traffic stop.
