A driver is lucky to be alive after a high-speed crash in South Florida that was caught on camera.

Police in West Palm Beach shared video of the incident, which happened just before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Several officers were parked on the side of the road when a white sedan could be seen speeding around the curve.

Security video showed the vehicle plowing head-on into a light pole, sending debris flying as the top of the light pole came crashing down on top of the car.

The engine compartment of the sedan quickly caught fire, and officers immediately jumped into action, running toward the scene.

One officer worked to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher while others checked on the driver, who had opened the driver's side door.
