Lightning postpones Gibbs football game as team seeks to honor players killed by strike 55 years ago
Sunday will mark 55 years since tragedy struck Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg. Two football players were hit by lightning during a practice huddle on the field and killed on Sept, 7, 1970. The school and the team gathered to honor their families during a special ceremony.
