Wireless carriers waiving overage charges for Florida customers

Major wireless carriers, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile are waiving overage charges customers across Florida who are impacted by Hurricane Irma.

Companies encourage customers in Florida to use text messaging when possible due to high call volumes and possible network congestion.

The following are the deals they are currently offering.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile is offering free calling, free texting and unlimited data to customers in Florida with T-Mobile and MetroPCS until September 15. They must have the following area codes: 239, 305, 321, 352, 386, 407, 561, 689, 727, 754, 772, 786, 813, 850, 863, 904, 941, 954.

The company is also allowing free calls and texts from the United States to the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, and waiving roaming fees on calls and texts for customers in those islands. This offer is good until September 15, as well.

Sprint

Sprint is waiving all text, call and data overage fees for Sprint, BoostMobile and Virgin Mobile customers in Florida until September 15. International call and text overage fees are waived for the same customers in the U.S. to the Bahamas. Roaming voice and text overage charges for Sprint customers in the Bahamas are waived.

Verizon

Verizon is offering its customers waived overage charges for calls, text and data, living in these zip codes, while prepaid customers, living in these zip codes, will receive an extra 3 GB of data. This offer will run until September 15.

No matter your wireless provider, Verizon said its opening its doors for residents to charge their phones at their stores. As of Tuesday, about 40 percent of its stores in Florida are open.

AT&T

Similarly, AT&T is also waiving fees to give unlimited data, talk and texts to its customers, and unlimited talk and texts to its prepaid customers. The offer applies to customers in Florida until September 17. This applies to its wireless customers with billing zip codes in Florida and its prepaid customers with billing phone numbers in Florida. The company will also be automatically issuing credits.
