2 dead after State Road 70 head-on crash in Myakka, FHP says
MYAKKA, Fla. - Two people are dead after a driver attempted to pass westbound traffic on State Rd. 70 in Myakka on Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 31-year-old Bradenton man was driving three other people in a sport utility vehicle when they crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a pickup truck that was traveling east.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 47-year-old Arcadia man, and a passenger in the sport utility vehicle, a 56-year-old Bradenton man, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.

The 31-year-old Bradenton man was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The other two passengers inside the sport utility vehicle sustained minor injuries.
FHP says they are still investigating the crash.
