TAMPA (FOX 13) - A valet driver at Bern's Steakhouse was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday. It's the third time a valet driver at the well-known restaurant has been targeted since May.
The first victim robbed said he is concerned knowing it happened again.
"My initial response is shock, and then anger, honestly," said Joshua, who did not want to reveal his last name for safety concerns. "I can't believe that this is happening a third time in such a short amount of time."
Joshua worked as a valet driver at Bern's for four years until May, when he was robbed at gunpoint while retrieving a guest's car from a nearby alley.
"A man came out of a dark corner with a gun and told me to give him all my money," Joshua said. He handed the man $200. The suspect told him to turn around and run. "I thought for sure he would shoot me as I was running," Joshua said. He made it back to the restaurant and reported the robbery to both Bern's management and Tampa Police.
In this most recent case, the suspect has been described as a white male with a tall, thin build. He was wearing tan shorts, a long sleeve t-shirt and a black ski mask. He was carrying a silver handgun.
Despite the similarities in all three cases, Tampa Police called Sunday's incident an isolated event.
FOX 13 reached out to Bern's Steakhouse. The restaurant's management gave the following statement:
"We are cooperating with Tampa Police to ensure the safety of our guests, employees, and neighbors. We have no further comment at this time."
