At the end of the work week, the unsung heroes at the Clearwater Police Department had some surprise visitors.

Staff members from the city of Clearwater brought in a basket of healthy snacks and cards to the 911 call center.

This is part of the city's initiative in February called 28 days of kindness.

The program challenges employees to make someone else's day a little better.

"That little moment could really impact that person and if you think about the ripple effect that that could have,  hopefully, we'll serve our citizens better in the city. Hopefully, we'll have better relationships at work," said Regina Novack, a wellness specialist with the city of Clearwater.

The staff appreciated it.

"I think by doing nice things like this, it's going to pay forward," said operator William Olive.
