Deputies: Footage shows Pasco trash dumpers
HUDSON (FOX 13) - Deputies in Pasco County say illegal dumping is still a problem, and they've got the video to prove it. Wednesday, they released new footage and they are asking people to help identify those seen dumping trash.
The campaign to catch these people started a few years ago, but just this summer the county turned to the public for help. There are 20 cameras in areas where people have been seen dumping trash across the county.
They're seeing everything from yard debris and trees to old furniture or even boats.
County officials say illegal discarding literally makes Pasco look trashy and the cleanup is costing taxpayers money.
Getting caught is expensive -- a $500 fine.
But there's an easy alternative -- just pay the small fee and take this stuff to the dump.
