Deputies: Man, seen in school video, not a threat
LAND O' LAKES (FOX 13) - Pasco County deputies say a man at the center of a school alert issued by the sheriff's office has now been identified and is not a threat.
Monday, Pasco district officials, citing "important information from the Pasco sheriff's office," said the man was alone at the Imagine School's open house and orientation and was asking about the school's security measures and cameras. They also said he made an appointment to return on Jan. 28 and didn't show up.
The alert was accompanied by photos and it asked anyone with information about the man's identity to contact the sheriff's office.
FOX 13 was later contacted by a man claiming to be the person in the photos. He disputed some of the district's facts and said he is a parent who was simply at the school to attend the orientation session.
A sheriff's office spokesman now says the incident has "essentially been resolved" and investigators have determined the man is not a threat to the school.
