Stolen U-Haul recovered, 2 arrested at Tampa RaceTrac gas station: HCSO

Hillsborough County deputies located a stolen U-Haul van and arrested the two people inside on Friday, according to HSCO.

Deputies say their Aviation Section helped locate the stolen U-Haul entering the RaceTrac gas station at 2120 E Fowler Ave. in Tampa.

Nicole Pender, 39, and Jean Gabaree, 43, were both taken into custody without incident.

While searching the U-Haul, deputies say they found driver's licenses, bank cards and social security cards that did not belong to the suspects.

Sheriff Chad Chronister says he is grateful that his deputies and the aviation section were able to collaborate to track these suspects down.

"This is another example of teamwork between our patrol deputies and specialized units like the aviation section. Their efforts ensured stolen property was recovered, and two suspects were taken off the streets," said Chronister. "We are committed to holding individuals accountable for their actions and ensuring that our community remains safe from criminal activity."

  • Two counts of possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of drugs without prescription
  • Unlawful possession of a personal ID of another (5 or more)
  • Driving with license suspended 3rd or subsequent
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Jean Gabaree

  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Two counts of possession of a controlled substance
  • Trespassing an unoccupied structure or conveyance
  • Unlawful possession of the personal ID of another (5 or more)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
