Lakeland PD make arrests in two cold cases
LAKELAND (FOX 13) - Lakeland Police charged three men with murder in two separate incidents, one an 8-year-old cold case.
COLD CASE
Police were still looking for Ernest Allen, Jr.'s killer. He was shot to death at his home on Lincoln Avenue in 2008.
On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted Kaheem Bennett in the case of Allen's death. Bennett was 15 at the time of the murder, and Reeshemaha Pearson, the accused trigger man.
Pearson was 16 at the time.
People in the neighborhood were reluctant to talk to police about the shooting until recently.
CHEVRON SHOOTING
Police also charged Sidney Mells Wednesday, with the death of Jamal Flemming.
Flemming was shot at a Chevron convenience store on Memorial Boulevard two years ago.
The shooting turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.
Officers say Mells thought he was shooting at Kaheem Bennett, who was inside the store at the time.
