Nicki Minaj rocks local designer's swimsuit on cover of Cosmo

"We are a lifestyle brand where we empower women to live fierce and fearlessly," said Altrichia Cook.

That isn't just a catchy slogan; it is something Altrichia Cook lives by.

"At age 17- just one month before I graduated high school- I found out I was pregnant," she said.

Being fierce and fearless, she went on to graduate from FSU while raising her son. She's also created a fast-growing bikini business, "Allusions by A. Lekay."

"We are a swimwear company that specifically offers high-waisted swimwear," she said. "I came up with this idea because I couldn't find a swimsuit that masked my abdominal imperfections."

She's been in business a little more than two years and it's never been better- thanks to Nicki Minaj.

The rap superstar is featured in an "Allusions by A. Leaky" piece on the cover of the July edition of Cosmo.

"All of her fans want to get this piece; hopefully they'll look as amazing as she does," she said.

She had reached out and developed a relationship with the magazine. It's a step towards her ultimate goal of going global.

"In the media, you don't see the success stories of people who made an error at a young age, but I was able to overcome that."

And she hopes her success inspires others along the way.

"Here I am- this country Lakeland girl. According to statistics, I was counted out but I literately never waited for an opportunity. I created one myself," she said.
