LECANTO (FOX 13) - A hit-and-run crash lead to a suspect crashing into a line of cars in the drive-thru at a McDonald's on N Lecanto Highway.
It started Tuesday around 12:40 p.m., at the scene of a reported hit-and-run near the intersection of Grover Cleveland Boulevard and County Road 491 in Homosassa.
Citrus sheriff's deputies were called to the scene to find a vehicle matching the description of a car involved in the hit-and-run driving away.
Deputies began to follow the vehicle eastbound on Grover Cleveland Blvd. It turned around in a driveway and sped away in the opposite direction - then turned north on CR 491.
Deputies put down stop sticks at Woodland Ridge and CR 491 before the intersection at 44/491. The stop sticks blew out the front right tire and slowed the car down, but did not stop the vehicle.
The driver kept going north on CR 491 with deputies following. He eventually pulled into the McDonald's parking lot in Lecanto at the corner of CR 486/491 - hitting four cars in the drive-thru before coming to a stop.
Deputies said they were able to approach the vehicle and pull the subject out through the window.
Stephen Mansfield, 26, from Holder is charged with four counts of aggravated battery, DUI, fleeing and eluding, and two counts of hit-and-run.
The Florida Highway Patrol was looking for Mansfield, who was also suspected in a hit-and-run Tuesday morning.
