Search for missing boater in Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is now handling the search for a missing boater in Big Sarasota Pass.
Emergency crews were called just before 5 p.m. Thursday. Officials and dive teams from Sarasota PD, Sarasota County Sheriff's Office. the U.S. Coast Guard, and Sarasota County EMS searched for several hours before turning the investigation over to FWC.
FWC said officers would continue to search after sundown for the missing person and a dive team would be on stand-by.
No other details, including the boater’s identity and description, were not immediately released.
