Suspicious substance found in mail closes Land O’Lakes High School as deputies investigate

Land O’Lakes High School was closed on Tuesday as deputies investigate a report of a suspicious substance found in the mail.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the substance was isolated to a non-student area of the school and is not hazardous in nature.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said its crews assisted Pasco firefighters. Hillsborough fire officials said crews helped clear rooms at the school and remove the suspicious envelopes, and they said four of the envelopes were safely packaged by Hazmat crews and handed off to law enforcement.

No other information was immediately available.
