Watch: 7-foot boa strikes at trapper in Miami
MIAMI LAKES (FOX 13) - Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's Venom Response Program trapped a 7-foot boa constrictor Wednesday in Miami Lakes.
MDFR said the Venom One unit was called when the non-native snake was spotted in a grassy area near 162nd Street and 84th Avenue.
In a video released by MDFR, the snake strikes from under some bushes at the trapper but doesn't make contact.
After about a minute of circling, the trapper manages to get a bag over the boa's head and safely removes it from the area.
According to WSVN News7 in Miami, the snake was being turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
MDFR told the Miami Herald the boa was probably someone’s pet.
