Westchase man accused of killing mother inside home
TAMPA, Fla. - A man was arrested after his mother was found dead inside a Westchase home Monday morning.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the home shortly before 8:30 a.m. after a man called dispatchers and made comments about his mental health. According to investigators, the man was 36-year-old Russell Moore.
A woman's body was found Monday morning at a home off Beaty Grove Dr. in Westchase.
Deputies arrived at Moore's home in the 8000 block of Beaty Grove Drive and interviewed him. During that interview, they said he made threatening statements about his mother, who was identified as 54-year-old Shambray Lavern Levy.

Officials said deputies found her dead inside the home with upper body trauma.

Moore was arrested at the home for first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, according to HCSO.
"This is an incredibly heartbreaking and tragic situation for the family and everyone involved," said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our deputies acted swiftly to investigate, and an arrest has been made. Our hearts go out to the loved ones affected by this unimaginable loss, and we will do everything we can to support them during this difficult time."
The investigation remains active.
