Gov. DeSantis argued the transgender athlete law is needed to protect girls who say they could be denied athletic opportunities if they had to compete against transgender girls. But transgender athletes say denying kids access to a sport they love is heartbreaking and traumatizing.

For many, the pride flag symbolizes equality, but one Lakeland man says his mobile home park won’t allow it. He says management is now warning him that if he doesn't take his flag down, he could be evicted. 

St. Pete Pride hosted its kickoff event at the Sirata Hotel Thursday, just days after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill banning transgender youth from playing sports with those of their identified gender.

Tampa Pride in Ybor City is not only the community’s first event and parade since the pandemic, but it’s also the first pride celebration in the country.

Fans were welcomed with rainbows galore as the Stanley Cup champions showed they are champions for everyone as the Tampa Bay Lightning celebrated Pride Night.

The Pride flag is flying at St. Petersburg City Hall – though this year the global pandemic means the celebrations and the main parade won’t be happening.
