Tampa artist has passion for etching Florida birds

TAMPA (FOX 13) - John Costin likes to do things the old-fashioned way.

In Ybor City, this artist has a particular passion for etchings, and he does some amazing work. His subject are the beautiful birds of Florida.

Costin is as much of an ornithologist as he is an artist, and it shows in the detailed accuracy of his work. Instead of painting the birds, he enjoys the art of etching. It’s a complicated and painstakingly tedious art form, and Costin seems to have perfected it.
