Dozens protest I-275 expansion project

More than 100 people gathered in Tampa to protest an I-275 expansion project they say will “murder” their historic neighborhood.

The group carried crime scene tape during their first protest march on North Franklin Street.

They say they plan to have one every month at the properties that will be destroyed if the proposed $6 billion expansion moves forward.  Tampa Heights, V.M. Ybor and Seminole Heights are among the neighborhoods that would be affected.

Leaders of the event hope to raise awareness of community members who will be impacted by the proposed demolitions.
