SPCA seeking wheelchair for dog
LAKELAND (FOX 13) - A good Samaritan is trying to help a dog get some new wheels in Polk County.
'Girly Girl' is an 11-year-old pit mix. She was hit by a car six years ago. Ever since the accident, the dog has had spinal cord issues.
Three weeks ago, she lost control of her back legs and cannot walk.
A good Samaritan noticed the owner carrying girly girl in a towel. Once she found out her story, she immediately wanted to help and called the SPCA.
"They had wheelchairs here and that all she had to do was come down and get to dog fitted, so I was really grateful because they helped so many people," offered Deborah Joseph. "Anything to help a dog, I'm going to do it."
Unfortunately, they couldn't find one that fit. So the SPCA is asking the public for help. They say anyone can buy or donate a dog wheelchair.
Officials estimate one that would fit Girly Girl is about $350.
