Special Operations military conference goes virtual

Combat demonstrations and military vehicle displays usually attract crowds of observers each year during the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC), but concern over large gatherings due to COVID-19 has forced the event to move online. 

MacDill postpones AirFest to help stop spread of coronavirus

The news came less than two hours after the governor called on local governments to cancel all “mass gatherings." The semi-annual airshow routinely draws as many as 500,000 people to the South Tampa base over two days.

Air Force honors contract negotiators at MacDill

A squadron at MacDill just received an award as an outstanding unit in the entire Air Force, but they don't fly planes. They negotiate and grant contracts for everything from laundry to artificial intelligence and many of those contracts go to small businesses in the Tampa Bay area.

Blue Angels will return to headline MacDill AirFest in March 2020

They fly hundreds of miles an hour, thousands of feet in the air, with as little as 18 inches separating their jets: The U.S. Navy's Blue Angels precision flying team will return to MacDill AirFest in late March 2020 to headline the event.
