After a quiet couple of months, FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says we may start to see some tropical activity off the coast of Africa in the coming days. Weber says as some of the Saharan dust starts to subside the conditions become more favorable for development. He says something may start to make its way toward the west by the middle of next week and may start to show signs of development. Weber adds that it is important to note that there is plenty of time to keep an eye on it.

Meteorologist Jim Weber says the Gulf is quiet at the moment, but there are some tropical waves coming off the coast of Africa that forecasters are keeping an eye on. While there is a light wind shear, the Saharan dust is moving across the Atlantic.

NOAA has put out its updated numbers for the season and while it is good news, FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says we have a long way to go. Weber says NOAA slightly decreased the number of predicted named storms from 14 to 20, which is down from 14-21 and the number of predicted hurricanes fell from 3-6 to 3-5. Weber says at the moment there is no expected development for the next five days.
