Children's Gasparilla Parade will go on, despite record pediatric COVID-19 infections

After taking a year off due to COVID-19, the pirate invasion is back, with the Children's Gasparilla Parade kicking off festivities this weekend. Organizers say they expect an even bigger crowd than year’s past, but the comeback falls in the middle of record case numbers, especially among children, due to the highly contagious omicron variant.

Tickets for 2022 Gasparilla festivities go on sale Friday

Pirates will soon be invading Tampa once more. After the 2021 Gasparilla parades were canceled due to the pandemic, Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla is getting swashbucklers excited for their triumphant return by announcing the early sale of tickets to next year's festivities, beginning Friday, July 23.

2021 Gasparilla knight parade also canceled

The Krewe of the Knights of Sant’ Yago announced Wednesday they are canceling the 2021 Sant’ Yago Knight Parade because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It appears the pandemic won't cancel the tradition of Gasparilla parades in Tampa as officials announced Monday the annual celebration will be delayed by about three months in 2021.
