Auburndale police investigating after body found in downtown lake

Two young men were fishing at an Auburndale lake when one of them cast a line and reeled in a human body. Police are asking for any witnesses to come forward as they investigate the man's death.

Polk deputies: Caregiver stole $14K from elderly patient with dementia, said she 'wasn't getting paid enough'

Polk detectives said the caregiver for an 80-year-old woman with dementia opened three credit cards in the victim's name so she could buy clothes, jewelry, makeup and meals at restaurants. She told investigators she knew the victim didn't have the mental capacity and admitted that she thought she "wasn't getting paid enough."
